Medical Admin Clerk

Trained to perform a variety of clerical functions, including but not limited to greeting patients and visitors, requesting and producing reports, data entry, calling other departments and providers, and maintaining patient records, unit specific forms and filing. Clerks are able to perform general clerk services within the personnel and equipment capabilities of a hospital.

  • Record preparation and reports indicated to document care and procedures provided. 
  • Trained to receive and respond to various inquiries from patients concerning a variety of medical, personnel, and administrative matters 
  • Able to determine the general nature of inquiries 
  • Independently respond to administrative questions and refer medical questions concerning patient’s condition, progress or treatment to the physicians and nurses
  • Skilled information receptionist for assigned clinics; answer the telephone and receive patients/family members/visitors in the clinic spaces
  • Takes appropriate measures to ensure confidentiality and privacy during interactions and provide necessary information and background material (i.e. patient’s chart, consults, brief description of problem, etc.) to aid physician in handling callers/visitors. 
  • Well versed in performing routine patient check-in/ check-out procedures and appointment scheduling using computer systems, entering and collecting data from a variety of information systems, included but not limited to Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA), Consolidated Health Care System (CHCS), Ambulatory Data System (ADS) and Defense Enrollment Eligibility System (DEERS).
